If you were to follow the CASR 1998 definition of a ‘large aircraft’, what condition would result in a helicopter being classified as ‘large’?

Updated 1 min read Nick Booth

There are two cases wherein a helicopter would be considered ‘large’.

  1. It has more than one engine (Reference: CASR1998 Vol 5, Page 236).
  2. It is defined as large under Part 42 (Reference: CASR1998 Vol 5, Page 236).

Currently, there are no cases under which Point 2 applies (Reference: Part 42 MOS, Page 26).
