Basics are no longer used for a pathway to licencing. However, your basics results can be used to grant credit towards CASA modular exams through an RPL process. (Reference: https://www.casa.gov.au/licences-and-certificates/maintenance-engineers/recognition-prior-learning-rpl-assessment-casa-basics)
It should be noted, however, that there are significant “gaps” which will exist after an RPL of ‘basics’ to ‘modules’. These shortfall “gaps” can be addressed by sitting CASA modular “gap” exams.
Information on exactly which Part 66 modular topics can receive credit form the CASA Basics can be found in CASA’s Guidance Material (Reference: https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-10/acceptable-means-compliance-guidance-material-part-147-annex-a-mapping-basics-exam-syllabus-part-66-basic-knowledge-syllabus.pdf).
