Which legal document/manual lays out the exact requirements for an AME seeking a licence?
The CASR Part 66 Manual of Standards contains all information relevant to licencing and type ratings. This is periodically updated and can be accessed online
If CASA requires me to hold the ‘unit of competency’ ‘MEA306’, is it possible for me to be considered theoretically ‘competent’ for MEA306 if I got 75% in my CASA module 15 exam, yet failed to correctly answer any question on ‘ignition systems?

I have been sitting CASA exams for my Cert IV in Aeroskills. What exactly is going on here?
In short, you shouldn’t be. The assessment requirements for CASA examinations cannot satisfy the assessment requirements for ASQA qualifications.
I got less than 75% for a CASA Modular exam, but more than 50%. Does this give me a “Cert IV pass”?
Simple answer, no. Despite this widespread information provided (incorrectly) by certain training organisations, a 50% pass in a CASA exam WILL NOT SATISFY the ASQA knowledge requirements.
